About Sausalito Village

  • Sausalito Village is a volunteer-based non-profit organization that has been offering services since October 2010. Our mission is to enhance the ability of our members to live independently, remaining active and integral to our community as we age.
  • We are part of the "Village" movement that has been spreading across the United States for a little more than a decade. The movement is an outgrowth of a simple but revolutionary idea: We can remain living safely and independently in the comfort of our own homes and communities if we join forces with others to create support systems that allow us to meet the challenges age brings.
  • Our membership in the Village-to-Village Network, a national organization, strengthens our programs and services by allowing us to exchange information and ideas with other villages. You can learn more about the Village-to-Village Network by clicking on this link:

  • We are a membership organization.  Members pay an annual fee of $200 for a one or two person household. Subject to budgetary constraints, the membership fee will be reduced or waived if it presents an obstacle to joining. We currently have over 200 members.
  • The Sausalito Village Concierge coordinates requests for assistance from volunteers, referrals to paid service providers whose credentials we have checked out or who have been recommended by a member, and general requests for information. The Concierge is on call from 9-5, Mondays through Fridays, at 415-332-3325.  Messages left on the line outside of these hours are returned in the morning of the next business day. Members can also reach the Concierge via email at concierge@sausalitovillage.org.
  • We currently have approximately 65 volunteers  who provide direct services for our members. Numerous other volunteers are involved in running the Sausalito Village organization, leading programs and activities and teaching classes, and providing other services. If you want to learn about volunteer opportunities, click on "Get Involved," then on "Volunteer."
  • We are an acknowledged 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and as such we may accept tax deductible donations.
  • One good way to learn about us is to click on "About Us" on the drop down menu of this website, then click on "Our Publications," where you will find a link to the current issue, as well as past issues, of our bi-weekly Sausalito Village Update. Other links will take you to additional publications, including a brochure, which you can download.
  • We maintain a regularly updated Facebook Page, which includes reports of SV activities and lots of photographs. Facebook members can access this page by clicking on the Facebook symbol on our Home page.
  • An easy way to learn about Sausalito Village and meet some of our members and volunteers is to come to our "Informational Meet," on the 2nd Tuesday of the month (except July and August), from 3p.m. to 4:30p.m. It's usually in the Edgewater Room of City Hall, but we recommend you check our event calendar on our Home Page.
  • And you can always give us a call and just say you would like to chat with with one or more of us -- perhaps over a cup of coffee or tea. We're always happy to do that. Once again, call our Concierge number to arrange such a meeting.
  • If you would like to be added to our email list and receive copies of our publications via email, just contact us at concierge@sausalitovillage.org or give our Concierge line a call at 415-332-3325.
